3 Hacks to Help Your Business Stand Out

3 Hacks to Help Your Business Stand Out - when you're drowning in a sea of same, try 1 (or 3) of these key moves - a blog post by Katie Peacock, Conversion Copywriter

I was home in Calgary over the weekend to celebrate my mom's birthday. 🥳

While I was there I also had the chance to catch up with a good friend. The perfect place to hang out when it’s -20 outside and you have a baby to push around? The mall.

Specifically, The Hudson's Bay.

If you’re Canadian, you know The Bay has everything and they do fantastic sales, especially in the months after Christmas. If you're American, think laaaarge department store with a lot of different brands and price points and everything from mattresses to espresso makers to fashion brands en masse.

Now I’m not saying you should take marketing lessons from The Bay—they've trained me well to wait until things are on sale PLUS clearance so I can get my extra 20% off. 😆

But, one marketing tip you can take from the brands within this enormous department store is:

If you want to make sales you *have* to stand out from the crowd—because your best people only have so much bandwidth to browse.

With algorithms making it harder and harder to get seen organically, and with the online business world feeling more saturated than ever, here are 3 hacks you can use to help your business stand out:

  1. Create a signature program (and talk about it all the time)

The brands I go back to again and again are always the ones where I know what I'm going to get: Good American for jeans, AllSaints for pretty blouses, Maje and Sandro for fashion inspo since they're out of my reach (for now).

They do what they do, they do it well, and they don't mess around trying new things every season.

When you create a signature offer, you give people the chance to get to know you + your work—and you give yourself the chance to get really good at what you deliver.

With time, you're not just another business coach, or just another brand designer:

You're The Creator of Your Signature Program, who helps her clients achieve Your Signature Promise.

Your OMG! Offer is the VERSION of your offer you're currently hyping in response to what your people want.

Think: That part of your sales page that comes after "Introducing..." with a high-level view of what they get & why they should care.

It's your signature offer, reimagined, with mouthwatering messaging that makes it 100% crystal clear why they want to get in there NOW.

This 90-minute workshop is just what you need if you want to:

  • Fine-tune your offer's messaging so that your ideal clients understand their ROI

  • Create more intrigue, curiosity and desire for what you sell

  • Move people from "Maybe next time..." to "I need this now!"

2. Create a signature framework + add in branded language

Another way to help your clients differentiate you from other coaches, consultants or service providers who do what you do?

Tell your audience more about the unique way you'll help them reach their goal.

As the online business world has evolved, we've seen that there's no 1 way to reach 6 or 7 figures.

There's no 1 right way to have a record-breaking launch, or crush it with your evergreen funnel.

Ultimately, people want to work with an expert who'll teach them a process that's right for them. That's why it's so powerful for you to talk about your HOW (not just your WHY).

Using a signature framework, both within your signature program and/or all of your work, helps your audience get a sense of whether your approach is right for them. And – unlike the WHAT of the results you'll help them achieve – HOW you'll help them do it is truly unique to you.

Branded language serves a similar purpose in that it helps your personal brand permeate everything you create, so that from the landing page for your freebie to your Work With Me page, people are clear on who they're signing up to work with, just from what they've read.

3. Get a friend to introduce you to their audience (ideally mentioning both of the above!)

The friend that I was shopping with? One of my besties from high school, and probably the one person – other than my mom – whose closet I've shopped since Day 1.

When she tells me about a new brand that's popped up, I pay attention.

I wasn't just being clever above—we genuinely do have limited cognitive energy to spend on browsing and making buying decisions. That's why we LOVE the shortcut of recommendations from people we trust.

The beauty of this third hack is that once you've taken care of #1 and #2, #3 becomes downright easy.

Because with a signature program, your biz besties know what you're about – making it so much easier to send people your way – and they know how to tell people about your business – meaning the leads who do come through will be so much clearer on what you do.
