I got together with my husband before Tinder was really a thing—a fact that sometimes makes me a little sorry, because browsing the profiles of attractive partners in my area sounds like way more fun than perusing sale items on Asos, and other mindless things I do to relax in the evenings.
I’ve watched from the sidelines as millions and millions of people have engaged in an activity I hope never to participate in.
What associated skills might they learn from adventures in online dating?

On the one hand, I’m curious about it—on the other, I’m so damn grateful I came up in a world where I could go on dates without worrying the person was going to match with someone (they deemed) more attractive while I was in the bathroom.
It’s given me the time and space to focus on other things than online dating…
For example, honing my skills as a conversion copywriter & sales funnel strategist.
Selling group programs and 1:1 services online is a lot like online dating in the sense that, if you’re doing sales calls, you get on the phone with someone and have a set amount of time to decide if it’s a match.
You’re both looking for certain qualities, and both people have to “swipe right” for the relationship to progress.

#1: Look for someone with a proven process, from the pre-proposal call to the project’s end
If you’ve gone so far as to book a call with someone, you’re obviously interested in what they do and curious about what it would be like to work together.
That’s why I like to think of the call as a peek into what it would be like to work together.
And when I’m hiring a service provider of any kind, I want them to take the lead.
I start my sales calls by letting prospective clients know I want to hear what’s going on with them, get as much insight as possible into their current goals.
Then, I’ll share a bit about my offers and if there’s one they get excited about, I’ll either put together a proposal for them right away or set up a second call to get more specific about what they need.
When it comes to sharing about my offers, I let people know why it’s so important for me to start with Immersive Copy Research.
I explain which steps go into crafting the conversion copy for their live launch or evergreen funnels.
And I describe how I’ll help them validate the copy we work on after it’s been online for approx. 60 days.
This is all part of my process.
